Safeway Florida will be making its official debut on June 15, 2016, according to what I just found on Safeway.com. The screen grab above is of the description of the Largo store from Safeway's website, which is featured as "Coming Soon". All three stores will reopen under the Safeway name that same day, and are still listed on Albertsons.com for now.
Just wanted to let everyone know, and there's also a new store post coming this weekend.
So until then,

They're adding a Jamba Juice? That's a Lifestyle-era tactic, but the Jamba Juice stores had terrible volume and had hard to clean equipment. Most of them ended up closing.
ReplyDeleteI looked through the description for each of the three stores, and Largo is the only one that's getting a Jamba Juice. That's the only difference in services between the three stores (Altamonte and Oakland Park have the exact same features as Largo minus the Jamba Juice). In all the news articles, it's the in-store Starbucks they kept pushing more than anything, with no mention of the Jamba Juice in Largo. But the Largo store is 15,000 square feet larger than Altamonte and Oakland Park, so maybe they needed something to fill some of that extra space with.
DeleteGlad to know the proposed date. If they're planning a grand opening, I'm going to try to be there.
ReplyDeleteThey'll probably have a ribbon cutting or something, but I don't know what any exact plans are at this point. They'll probably release more details as it gets closer to June 15th. And if they plan anything special (like a speech from a high-up official), Largo will probably be where it happens.
DeleteThey changed the date to May
ReplyDeleteThanks for that! I'll do an update post sometime today to reflect that change.
