I sometimes think I'm crazy for driving an hour to see an abandoned supermarket, but I'd be tempted into a 14 hour drive for something like this too! :)

It's really rare to see a supermarket abandoned for so long like this in Florida, probably due to all the growth and new development we experience down here. And I'm sure you would have been much more tempted than I was to push on that door when you realized the lock was broken!Albertsons Florida Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17350708223049245195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628100700550321985.post-49828007493337224072019-08-26T23:10:06.072-04:002019-08-26T23:10:06.072-04:00Thank you very much! Glad to see that all my rambling is appreciated :) This really is one of my favorite posts on the blog, as I am quite happy with how it turned out (both content-wise and how it was written). And LOL! When you put it that way, it makes me feel better about my craziness!

I'm glad I had a chance to visit this store. I didn't realize those plans for the hotel were floating around when I came here, but it seemed like this would be one of those places I had to visit sooner rather than later. Taking pictures through windows is about as far as I'll probably go, even though that's brought attention to myself more than once in the past. And I don't want to take my chances with the cops, or worse yet, those pesky retail fan hungry creatures that may be lurking inside! You're probably right though, not much harm could have been waiting for me in here - the Beef People want beef, not me!

I haven't seen any site plans for the new hotel, so I don't know how anything will be laid out on the property or if the fishing hole will remain. It's certainly a fitting plan for the property to redevelop it with a hotel. If those cowboy silhouettes don't vanish before this building gets torn down, those would be neat to incorporate into the "Old Florida" theme of the new hotel. I'm sure that's a far-fetched idea to come to fruition, but it sure would be a neat tribute to this property's past.Albertsons Florida Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17350708223049245195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628100700550321985.post-40790673085781304262019-08-26T16:08:08.003-04:002019-08-26T16:08:08.003-04:00Fantastic find! XD
If I weren't already a retail fan, this post would've definitely pulled me down that rabbit hole.PlazaACMEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09474132167455259824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628100700550321985.post-16936217578335384102019-08-25T21:51:50.014-04:002019-08-25T21:51:50.014-04:00You sure know how to write well, AFB :) I was smil...You sure know how to write well, AFB :) I was smiling all throughout the introduction (and also thinking some of the same things you anticipated, haha!) However, I don't think it's only first-time readers who think you're crazy: it's just that the rest of us in the retail crowd are equally as crazy ;)

Anyway, definitely awesome to see all this décor still intact! Both you and cflretail got great pictures of it, and I'm glad it's been documented. I also don't blame you for not going inside - I probably wouldn't even be caught stepping up to the windows like you did, especially with cars near/passing by! - but I don't think too much harm could have been waiting inside for you... "Heed the Beef People" doesn't have quite the same ring to it XD

The "internet cafe" loophole is interesting, too, as is the fishing hole behind the plaza. Hopefully the hotel (if and when it gets built) won't put a stop to people using that! And speaking of the hotel, sounds like it will be a welcome revitalization for the area, especially at the entrance to town, even if it does spell doom for this classic, abandoned Winn-Dixie :(Retail Retellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12636351832804174132noreply@blogger.com
