I did about everything there! I will always cherish my time there. I started in 2001 before the Industrial Circus renovation, and the renovation was changed midway. Originally, the store was supposed to have a more extensive renovation, but sales must have been less than anticipated....not sure. I went over to the newly renovated bakery which was changed from a behind the scenes production area to an open plan. The maroon and grey section on the far right is the home to the old Southchase bank, not the video department (just for clarification ;)). This was the only spot in the store that was unchanged when the Industrial Circus was added. We used to have so much fun at this store and this blew so many memories in my mind!!!

Thanks!Daved918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628100700550321985.post-63014722666451448052018-01-20T18:40:29.411-05:002018-01-20T18:40:29.411-05:00Those gyms are popping up just about everywhere th...Those gyms are popping up just about everywhere these days. The only other North Orlando Albertsons stores to get the Industrial Circus interior (that I know of) were #4412 in Oviedo (closed the same time as #4471 and still empty), and #4379 at Clarcona-Ocoee and North OBT. Industrial Circus seemed to be more common in Albertsons remodels in South Florida and Tampa Bay than it was in Central Florida for some reason. #4353 still a neat place to check out if you happen to drive by it. As far as a new grocery tenant goes, Walmart and Safeway would be the only realistic options for this site. Walmart would tear the building down like they did when they took over the Market at Southside Albertsons if they were to take over this site, although it would be interesting to see a Safeway open in here. However, it doesn't seem like anyone is moving too fast to get anything in this building.

Those are some neat pictures of 4471! 4471 is essentially the Port St. Lucie store with a brick exterior. My post on that store is scheduled for later this year, and I got some interesting pictures to share from that store. The Shell station's food mart out front left everything from Albertsons Express intact inside, including the decor, a few exposed Albertsons logos and old Albertsons price tags.

Honestly, for an empty Albertsons building today, Walmart Neighborhood Market would be the most likely tenant to fill one (as long as there isn't another Walmart within a mile of the site). Those are popping up everywhere. The empty Longwood store is actually a decent location for a Walmart NM, 4471 not so much considering the Supercenter practically across the street. Honestly, after sitting for so long, if anything ever moves into 4471, it will probably be non-grocery (like a discount flooring store or self-storage center, or something of that nature). For a grocery reuse, 4353 is the better site even though the building is older.Albertsons Florida Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17350708223049245195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628100700550321985.post-2244015591974964882016-06-06T16:59:21.142-04:002016-06-06T16:59:21.142-04:00I was curious about this one! Interesting to see the Industrial Circus design instead of the Plaza or Blue/Green Awnings as most of the close by locations remodeled or were built with that style. I can't see anybody really buying this location because of it's age and location (located with other dying early 80s strip malls in a secluded location), the only way to make a profit is if a major groce/retailer (Safeway or Walmart Neighborhood or Fresh Market, etc) bought it and gave it a major overhaul.

And #4471 is still left untouched and without a tenant. Nearly identical to Port St. Lucie on the inside. I went over and it seems pretty intact as well. http://imgur.com/a/zjsfF

Who would be the most probable buyer of an empty Albertsons? And which one would be the best location?cflguynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628100700550321985.post-27995620645067866522016-06-06T16:29:34.607-04:002016-06-06T16:29:34.607-04:00Being on the news isn't for me, whether I was ...Being on the news isn't for me, whether I was talking about Albertsons or anything else. That first statement pretty much describes me.

This building is owned by a commercial real estate LLC called BRNK Casselberry LLC, who bought the property after Albertsons closed from a different landlord in 2013. From county property records, it doesn't show Albertsons ever owning this building. It looks like it was leased for its entire existence (back in the early 80's, Albertsons still preferred to own their buildings rather than lease, which makes this an unusual case). I think there's possibility some of these still abandoned Albertsons stores could become Safeways, as any new Safeways would probably open in existing buildings after a little bit of work to upgrade them, rather than new builds. As for competition, there's a Save-A-Lot in the plaza next door, a Winn-Dixie that got the first round post-bankruptcy remodel less than half a mile away, and a Publix a mile and a half to the south. Beyond those stores, the next grocery stores (including Walmarts) are a least 5 miles away. The Publix is probably the largest threat, with impact from the Winn-Dixie and Save-A-Lot being minimal to a potential Safeway opening here.Albertsons Florida Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17350708223049245195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628100700550321985.post-64071905501517281552016-06-06T09:39:51.334-04:002016-06-06T09:39:51.334-04:00I get the feeling you're a private person and ...I get the feeling you're a private person and wouldn't like the attention if you were interviewed on the news about the state of the late Albertsons Florida, but that's alright.

Quick question: who currently owns this building? I was thinking that since Albertsons has re-committed to Florida with the three stores renovated as Safeway, is it possible to reopen this Albertsons could reopen as a Safeway? I don't think it's too far-fetched, as Albertsons has been reopening a few Dominick's this year as well as Jewel-Osco. Just a little bit of paint with the Albertsons LLC décor, some new fixtures, and perhaps a bit of stucco (sorry, the "river rock" exterior, especially right below the sign, feels quite dated) could work in bringing this store back. And, with the store so close to Altamonte Springs, deliveries don't have to travel as far.

What kind of competition does this store have?Pseudo3Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17848368606946150471noreply@blogger.com
